Volkmann is thrilled to move on to professional fighting in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), after an accomplished wrestling career.  He loves having fans cheering him on in the stands.  Volkmann is grateful to all his fans, for their support and well wishes.  He would like to keep his fans up to date on his MMA accomplishments through this web site.  Also, check here for upcoming events so you can cheer him on in person!

Volkmann currently competes for Minnesota Martial Arts Acadamy, based in Brooklyn Park, MN.  His sponsors are Heatwave Moblie Advertising, MMA Overload, Headrush, Athens Bow, Headrush, SEG, and Infinite Insurance.       

2008 FILA Grappling World Champion

Volkmann competed for Team USA in Lucerne, Switzerland December 18th-21st, 2008.  He participated in the No-Gi catagory at 80Kg.  He went 5-0, submitting 2 opponents.  He grappled against opponents from Brazil, Poland, Bulgaria, and Costa Rica.  This was the first Worlds for Grappling and Volkmann hopes to defend his title next year.

2008 USA Grappling National Champion

Volkmann earned a trip to 2008 USA Grappling Nationals by winning the regional tournament earlier in the year.  At Nationals, Volkmann defeated Dennis Hallman in the Championship round.  Nationals were held in Sierra, California in September 2008.

Victory Fighting Championships Welterweight Champion

Volkmann defeated Bobby Volker by decision for the title belt.  The Victory Fighting Championships were held December 5th 2008, in Omaha, NE.

Schedule

I ended up fighting Efrain Escudero December 30th at the MGM Casino in Las Vegas NV.  I controlled the first two rounds fairly easy.  The third round on the other hands was well controlled until the last 90 seconds.  I made a mistake that left me open for a guillatine and he did his best to choke me out, but did not succeed.  I ended up winning by unanimous decision.  After the fight I had an opportunity to tell my glassectomy joke, which did not get very many laughs.
